your creative environment is just as important as your creative process.
often, writers neglect their environments as essential factors in writing terrific pieces. how you FEEL when you write has a direct correlation to expanding your creative ability. this is because your best work comes from feeling.
when it comes to your environment, the first key is the space you sit in. the more intention you have in your space, the better you can translate the emotions of the given piece.
my personal recipe for success?
- 1 gallon of natural light/sunlight
- 2 sheets of comfortable clothing
- 1/2 cup of quieting the mind
- 1 pint of observing the space
- a dash of lofi music or instrumental hip hop tracks
- cook (aka write lol) for 30 minutes to an hour, as needed
just like grandma, my recipe may be different than yours but it works for me! i prefer a clear area to replicate a clear mind. i always keep my favorite things with me like the g2 pilot pens or bottle of essentia water.
if you are thinking about revamping your environment to suit you better try:
- identify the space(s) you feel the most comfortable (outdoors, in your room, etc.)
- create this dream environment the best you can (buy plants, get LED lights)
- try it out and repeat as needed until you find your favorite format
my challenge for you this week is to create your favorite environment that suits you best as a creative. when you find it or if you already know it, comment below!
asé, asé.
