go find you.
as writers, we often feel guilty for every moment we are not taking to perfect our craft.
but if i’ve learned nothing else from artist like frank ocean, kendrick lamar, and rihanna – they taught me the importance of going out to live your life amidst being an artist.
doing this helps you in the process of finding out who you really are.
when exploring, you become a stronger source for new stories, new insight, and gradually acquire the ability to give unique commentary on various situations. simultaneously, you continue to add new building blocks to your persona, character, and soul makeup. this creates ever-changing versions of yourself with different perspectives and opinions to share.
you see, i realized that each moment i’m not physically writing, i am still creating life that will give me things to talk about and teach me things i need to learn about myself. the more i kept my eyes and heart open over the years, i was able to connect my experiences together in a way where i could share it with my readers seamlessly.
through living our lives, we can never run out of things to give our perspective on. for example, i have yet to write a full piece about my mother, my first love, what high school was like, and the list goes on. so never worry about running out of topics or discussions. a writer always has something else they haven’t touched on before.
lastly, there is no use in stressing the volume of writing you conduct if you are not in a space that affords it. so instead, use all the time you do have to make quality work.
there is also no value in stressing about the moments you can’t jot down your thoughts right then and there. so instead, just be fully present so you can pull from the strength and depth of your emotions later on.
to the writer who never writes, go find you, never worry (too much), and live your life moment by moment.
the page and the pen will always be here awaiting you when it’s time.
asé, asé.

One response to “to the writer who never writes,”
I built a habit of writing every day and sometimes that doesn’t seem like enough. This piece reassured me that creators may feel this way and it is normal. Most of all, how to live life and get inspiration for all the different content. Thank you for sharing
